i blog to be with you.
the blogosphere is a never ending bloom of information and personalities. sometimes i wonder why so many people want to "publish" something...no matter what that something is. it seems there are probably a few good reasons, whether or not the content is good. for some it's a catharsis, a tick or release, a nice vignette to punctuate the day. for others it's work. you can monetize a readership. maybe there is one more generalization, people who write for others, hoping it's beneficial, wanting excellent writing. maybe that's idealistic and fussy. maybe it's too difficult to see why people want to "publish", but at root, i do think good writing is more for others than for me. maybe i ought to capitalize. All this writing then, seems to be the menagerie of the gigantic blogosphere. you write because you think you have something worthwhile to tell. you write because you can't sit still. you write because someone will read it. it's worth the time. you hope it will benefit. write?

I write to improve my writing and to see what might happen. Do you think maybe some write because they hope something unexpected lies around the corner?
Hi Mike, I think writing to improve is very worthwhile. blogging may or may not help you see that. there's certainly the ability to peer review. i think the only way be discovered in writing...probably particularly in blogs, is to make it happen. that's deliberate. goal oriented...and with motives. don't stop writing. it's good for the mind. but whatever gets published and praised is different level.
