These two stood in the rain. They stood close but did not touch and appeared to be soaking in the scene. The sun had set and the street lamps cast a dreamlike haze on the vacant street. I wasn't sure if they had spoken to each other, but it seemed they were in a strange silent way, as if they might as well have been fixtures of the street scene themselves. The whole image to me was surreal, as ordinary as any other rainy, isolated street in any other lively city, but momentarily inexplicable all the same. She was dressed in a knee length light blue colored raincoat. Her hood didn't quite hide her face and her big brown eyes looked imploringly from the mesmerizing stillness to the boy's serene expression. He was smiling at her but not as if to respond to her, but more a deep content. I think these two had no concept of the passing time and the rain puddled at their feet. Then, as eternal as this peculiar picture seemed, the boy clasped her hand and they walked out of my sight.
